Most often than not, acne is taken very lightly by the medical fraternity(the non-dermatologists) and the lay public. The psychological and physical impacts of acne could be far reaching for the affected teenagers.

The Global Alliance was formed in 2003 to look into the details of the pathophysiology, treatment modalities and the psychological and social impacts of the acne problem has submitted 2 reports so far: one in 2003 and the other in 2009.
