Unfortunately, no. The main aim of treating acne is to prevent scarring and blemishes on the skin. So a prolonged duration of treatment is required to keep acne under control.

Acne reduces in appearance as sebaceous activity and size regress with age. But for some, especially women, flare ups occur around their monthly periods.

Acne FAQ: Are OTC products effective for acne?
Some of the OTC products contain the same pharmacological agents prescribed by your dermatologist and will be effective. But choosing the correct agent for your type of acne is important. If the acne is severe, you may require prescription medication. Also beware of some OTC products which do not contain any proven or tested ingredients. And, do not be under the wrong impression that 'herbal' OTC products are harmless!
