Tips on Care of Combination Skin

What is Combination Skin and what are the tips on care of combination skin?

Usually individuals have a combination skin, i.e, oily at places and dry at places. The so called 'T' zone of face including the forehead, nose, upper lip and chin contain greater number of sebaceous glands and, when active, make this area oily and greasy. In contrast, the 'V' zone of face, the lateral aspect of cheek and the side of the face, has lesser number of sebaceous gland, and, consequently, is normal or dry.

Tips on Care of Combination Skin

  • Combination skin requires combination treatment!
  • Avoid acne breakouts in the oily T areas and avoid dryness in the V areas
  • Use cleansers more on the central areas. Same with toners. Avoid toners on the V areas.
  • Liquid or serum moisturizers are suitable for this type of combination skins as they are non comedogenic.
  • Look for products containing squalene, ceramides or hyaluronic acid. These ingredients have water retaining properties without causing occlusion.
