Care of Oily Skin

We cannot prevent oily skin from occurring, but can definitely keep the oiliness and acne formation under control. Care of oily skin is very important in preventing acne eruptions.

Following are a few tips on the care of oily skin:

  • Proper Cleansing.
    • Avoid very hot water, harsh soaps or cleansers. This will irritate the skin more and increase the abrasive effects of anti acne preparations.
    • Use only mild cleansers that will not cause excessive dryness.
    • Abrasive cleansers may be used twice a week
  • Toners can be used on a daily basis for oily skin, after cleansing.
  • Avoid oil-based cosmetics. Use water-based, non-acne forming cosmetics only.
  • Remember to remove your makeup before going to bed.
  • Control your food habits. See how food affects oily skin and acne.
  • Learn to relax. This is very important to reduce acne flare ups. Click here for an effective stress management program.
